Climb-Up Insect Interceptor

climb-up bed bug insect interceptor

An effective and inexpensive way to combat bed bug infestations is to use Climb-Up Insect Interceptors. An intuitive trapping device the Interceptor works by placing the pitfall trap underneath common bed bug hot spots including bed posts, couch and chair legs and other furniture legs to form a barrier between the floor and the furniture. If bed bugs are either trying to climb up the bed post or crawl down the couch they will be caught in the slick, talc lubricated side walls of the Interceptor and will be trapped. Interceptors can’t catch and exterminate all bed bugs but each one it catches is one less you have to worry about.

Years of adaptation have made bed bugs naturally resistant to many chemicals and pesticide gels being used today. What may kill cockroaches, termites and fleas won’t have any effect on bed bugs so spraying for these particular pests is futile. Unfortunately the only sure way to exterminate a bed bug infestation is though extreme steaming or freezing which can be costly and time consuming. Interceptors provide a strategic weapon in the war on bed bugs by creating an unwelcome barrier to their paths. Bed bugs march their way on up bed posts, sofas and chair legs and then find dark, dank corners to hide in between feedings.

Place a Climb-Up Insect Interceptor underneath any bed or piece of furniture you suspect may be infested with bed bugs. If you are unsure if the insects in your furniture are bed bugs the Interceptor will trap enough for you to inspect closely and determine if you have bed bugs. Simply place an Interceptor pitfall trap under each of the four posts or legs holding up the bed or couch. Do not let any items hang off the bed or couch such as sheets, blankets and comforters that can act as a bridge and vehicle for bed bugs to escape. Also, keep beds and furniture away from walls since this creates another escape route for insects. If the bed and couch are isolated from any adjoining furniture the bed bugs won’t have any other option other than to fall into the trap when they need to leave their hiding place to feed.

It is recommended that you leave an Interceptor in place for at least 21 days to allow enough time for the trap to work. Bed Bugs can go weeks without feeding so some will hide out and unsuspecting homeowners will assume the problem is gone. If during this time you notice bed bugs being trapped by the talc use a soft cotton ball to safely remove the insect from the trap and dispose of it in a small plastic bag and then throw the bag in the trash. If you are cleaning the Interceptor protect your hands and rinse out the trap with warm soapy water and flush the residue and bugs down a toilet. When this is done carefully reapply the lubricating talc to the dry walls of the Interceptor and place back under the bed or furniture it was before.
